For the older audience this might be a remembrance concert, a lovely meeting with their youth, while for the young listeners it might be a unique chance to hear a retro programme of the music rarely performed nowadays. The concert will feature songs by Isaac Dunaevsky, Alexandra Pakhmutova, Yan Frenkel, Michael Tariverdiev and Yevgeny Martynov. Foreign repertoire will be presented with hits from George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" as well as pieces from different famous musicals including "My Fair Lady" by Frederick Loewe, "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein, "Hello, Dolly!" by Jerry Herman, and "New York, New York" by John Kander. The concert program will remind us of the outstanding singers of the last century, from Mario Lanza to Muslim Magomayev and Frank Sinatra, and the young, talented artists of the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera will fill the melodies of the past with vigorous breathing of today.
